If you weren’t watching the Yankees game today you may have missed one of the most special moments in all of baseball in recent history. George Lombard, who played 6 mediocre seasons in the MLB for the Tigers, Dodgers, and the Braves, and is now the bench coach for the Tigers got the day off to go watch the Yankees today.
The reason he got the day off is because his son, George Lombard Jr., who is also the Yankees number one prospect got called up to play in the bigs today. George Lombard Jr. has been raking more than your local dude from Home Depot in the minors. The dude is a certified stud and he looks the part too. The dude has some serious steeze and fit the Yankee uniform perfectly. I ain’t even a Yanks fan but when I heard that he was getting called up I had to put the game on.
And not only that, but his younger brother was making his debut in single-A for the Marlins affiliate, the Jupiter Hammerheads, after getting drafted in the first round earlier this year.
Also, side note, why do the minor league teams always have the sickest logos? Can we get the Hammerheads in the majors, please? Like seriously, the Trash Pandas, the Yard Goats, and the Isotopes are all real minor league teams. We have to work on this.
Early in the Yankee game, George Lombard was watching his younger son make his debut on his phone, and on his first AB he hit a home run. That in and of itself is cool, right?

Well, later in the fifth inning of the Yankee game, George Lombard Jr. was up for his second AB ever in the bigs. And what does he do? He hits an absolute rope to left field over the fence in the Bronx.
George Lombard may have been a mediocre player, and who in the hell knows how he is as a coach, but that man’s sperm might be some of the best in the country. We gotta have a fertility doc talk to him about making some more ball players to revive this dying sport. Or have the MLB juice the balls again like they do whenever viewership gets too low for their sponsors’ liking.
But for real, if that stuff doesn’t make you romantic about baseball, then you’re less American than a dude living in London. Seriously, that stuff is once-in-a-lifetime to see in real time. Turn your TV on, watch some baseball for a change, because that shit live was surreal to watch.
