Apple pie, Labrador retrievers, B2 bomber flyovers, and the home run derby. Few things are as American as those four things in the world yet somehow Netflix ruined one of them last night. When are sports leagues going to realize that Netflix might be paying the most amount of money to get these big time games and may be good in the long run but they are absolutely losing fans of the sport.
I don’t want to have to to watch another Christmas football game, another baseball opener, or another home run derby on Netflix shoving random celebrities in my face who have no idea what they’re talking about. I want to go on fox, CBS, ESPN, or whoever we ACTUALLY know can handle a good broadcast of an amazing event.
Now of course I watched it, and it was an awesome moment for Jordan Walker winning the derby (I had a feeling after watching his opening round) in his debut in the derby but god all the extra theatrics and nonsense that Netflix put on it really put a bad taste in my mouth. I mean they even missed the first ABS challenge of the season earlier this year. These execs have to understand that Netflix can not host these amazing events leave it to the Jake Paul fights not events that die hard fans actually want to watch.
